Spoken Word Sunday

Chello All!
Its a start of a beautiful week here in Atlanta. Its been in the low 80s and I'm pretty sure that everyone agrees with me that they cannot wait for it to get colder so these people walking on claws, talons and hooves can finally put their monstrosities in hibernation until Spring.

A ot in the world has been going on. Ugly people can finally come out this month without regards to people asking them what hideous monster they are going to be cause its Halloween. Well....not Flava Flav...we all know that's not a mask.

Well its Spoken Word Sunday and, check out this new song by Floacist featuring MusiqSoul Child, entitled, "Forever". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmKAyM2xqPA This song is so tight! I really do miss Floetry but happy to seem them back doing what they love!

Natalie Stewart is a tight with her lyrical game. Check out Affirmation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xl1pOQCvjE

Now, on my page with Facebook and on my Twitter I asked for Spoken Word submissions. I do love reading everyone's work! This one came from a good FB buddy of mine Dauwd Najimi. Please don't ask me how to pronounce his name cause I fuck it up every time. Just call him Talented! Here is his poem, BACKPACK LITERATURE.

BACKPACK LITERATURE
- Dauwd Najimi

I am
tragically buried
in Their designer backpacks,
vaporous
as their claptrap
classroom participation
and
linear written accounts,
I suspect

The professor
grasps at the
ebb and flow nature of
early morning restlessness
seeking signs
of my
inspired inspiration,
an authentic thought
Then, the disappointment

I hold
one thousand or so
pages of words
awaiting
Them to exhume
my body of work
snuggled
at the bottom
of Their designer backpacks

Thanks once again Dauwd for this! If you want to include your submission for next Sunday's Spoken Word hit my inbox @ poeticphire75@gmail.com

The changing of the seasons are coming. One day Atlanta will finally release its choke hold on Summer and let Fall do the Dougie on the weather. On that note, here's my poem: Autumn Leaves.

Autumn Leaves
by: n.a.s.

the Air is Changing Clothes
the Pheel of Cotton
on Skin
the Crunch of once
phormer Leaves
Acquiesce under
my Pheet

the Smell of
Cider and
pumpkin Spice
Seduces my being
when i Walk
under the Canopy
of Tans Browns
Reds and Yellows

Children
Grow weary of
the Limited Days
Sunlight no longer
their Phriend
their Warm Breath
Phalling in small
white puff clouds
of Vapor
their Excited
Giggles Erupting
phrom the Phreedom
of being Young

i Search phor
Warmth in
Phamiar Phaces
and Phind
Peace
Perched
in an Evergreen Tree
Calmly waiting
phor Us
to be Still
and Phinally see
the Beauty
in God s Simplicity
called

Life
