If you've been following me on my Twitter(PositivelyAlexz) and on Facebook(No Alexzander), already know that I was at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA on 10-16-10 watching the amazing cast of, Dreamgirls.
The beautiful and vivacious, Monya Angela, made me complete forget the movie. She was embodied the role of, "Effie", and made it her own. From the first steady beat of the cowbell, the show became a hurricane of energy.
Moya Angela is a delectable woman with the sweetness of honey and a powerhouse voice that can make you shout! Meeting her in person was wonderful! (Thanks AB! I promise to bake you that Jungle Fever cake lol) She's been on Broadway's The Lion King and won two Encore Awards in her roles as Sara in Ragtime and Adapearle in The Wiz.

All of you fans of American Idol, Syesha Mercado may have not won first place, but this talented singer is making her own place in this world. Landing the role of, "Deena Jones", she has already proven herself successful. I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga would love some of her costumes from this show.

If you didn't know this talented brother could sing, then your in for a wonderful treat! Chaz Lamar Shepard played evil with such conviction, I almost prayed for his soul. Playing, "Curtis Taylor Jr", the man with one mission, to get to the top by any means necessary, was portrayed excellent by Chaz. This multi-talented actor as been on TV from The Parkers, and played Harpo in Broadway's The Color Purple.

Often in shows there comes one person who can easily pull focus from everyone and make them the star. Then there are the rare few who can balance the spotlight and share it easily with the cast. That actor is, Chester Gregory, who embodied the role of James "Thunder" with perfect comedic timing and sincerity, we couldn't wait to see what he was going to do next! Some poor little old white lady behind me was praying he drop his pants all the way down. I swear, Viagra is giving old people too much confidence they don't need!

Did I mention that I had great seats? I was so close to the stage that when the dancers were, "Stepping To The Bad Side", I felt each and every sweat drop come off that amazing number. Just absolutely amazing was that dance ensemble! Its not easy doing a shuffle ball step change, keep your face straight while Chester is making everyone else laugh.
After the show, I got to meet the cast and eat with them. This was a honor and all of them were so humble! No, I'm not talking that, "I-Really-Don't-Give-A-Damn-Who-You-Are" kind of fake, they were all genuine and sweet. The food was so worth cheating over! I'm here now chewing on the church plate they let me have.
My great friend, AB, gave me the best time ever! We laughed, we saw some great eye candy, and they made sure they signed my Playbill. Now you know I was hotter than a midget trying to look over a high counter when my Blackberry(aka Crackberry), decided that it no longer wanted to work and died on me lol. AB hooked me up with a pic of her and Moya that I will post to this blog when it comes in.
Also, to the drunk asses in front of me that had to talk every five seconds, you better be glad I didn't have bail money cause you both would've gotten the backhand of Baby Jesus. I came to hear a performance NOT to hear you talk about your thong was riding up your twat. By the way, eww. And other thing, you're a dirty bitch cause you sure wasn't quiet whispering that.
Anyway, the next leg of their tour will be at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House in Miami, FL. From 10-19-10 to 10-24-10. You can purchase tickets at http://www.arhstcenter.org/ or by calling them at 305-649-6722. Also sold on Ticketmaster, TicketsNow and StubHub!
Come see this show Miami! Its so worth it! I know today is Spoken Word on my blog but I decided to veto that and leave you with these performances from, Dreamgirls.
