Lights, Camera...Get Your Head Out The Way!

Good Evening!
If you've been following me on my Twitter(PositivelyAlexz) and on Facebook(No Alexzander), already know that I was at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA on 10-16-10 watching the amazing cast of, Dreamgirls.

Moya Angela as "Effie" giving her plea in the powerhouse song, "And I Am I'm Not Going"

The beautiful and vivacious, Monya Angela, made me complete forget the movie. She was embodied the role of, "Effie", and made it her own. From the first steady beat of the cowbell, the show became a hurricane of energy.

Moya Angela is a delectable woman with the sweetness of honey and a powerhouse voice that can make you shout! Meeting her in person was wonderful! (Thanks AB! I promise to bake you that Jungle Fever cake lol) She's been on Broadway's The Lion King and won two Encore Awards in her roles as Sara in Ragtime and Adapearle in The Wiz.
Moya Angela on Dreamgirls

The Dreams

All of you fans of American Idol, Syesha Mercado may have not won first place, but this talented singer is making her own place in this world. Landing the role of, "Deena Jones", she has already proven herself successful. I'm pretty sure Lady Gaga would love some of her costumes from this show.

Chaz Lamar Sheppard and Moya Angela

If you didn't know this talented brother could sing, then your in for a wonderful treat! Chaz Lamar Shepard played evil with such conviction, I almost prayed for his soul. Playing, "Curtis Taylor Jr", the man with one mission, to get to the top by any means necessary, was portrayed excellent by Chaz. This multi-talented actor as been on TV from The Parkers, and played Harpo in Broadway's The Color Purple.

The Dreamgirl Cast

Often in shows there comes one person who can easily pull focus from everyone and make them the star. Then there are the rare few who can balance the spotlight and share it easily with the cast. That actor is, Chester Gregory, who embodied the role of James "Thunder" with perfect comedic timing and sincerity, we couldn't wait to see what he was going to do next! Some poor little old white lady behind me was praying he drop his pants all the way down. I swear, Viagra is giving old people too much confidence they don't need!
Chester Gregory on Dreamgirls

Did I mention that I had great seats? I was so close to the stage that when the dancers were, "Stepping To The Bad Side", I felt each and every sweat drop come off that amazing number. Just absolutely amazing was that dance ensemble! Its not easy doing a shuffle ball step change, keep your face straight while Chester is making everyone else laugh.

After the show, I got to meet the cast and eat with them. This was a honor and all of them were so humble! No, I'm not talking that, "I-Really-Don't-Give-A-Damn-Who-You-Are" kind of fake, they were all genuine and sweet. The food was so worth cheating over! I'm here now chewing on the church plate they let me have.

My great friend, AB, gave me the best time ever! We laughed, we saw some great eye candy, and they made sure they signed my Playbill. Now you know I was hotter than a midget trying to look over a high counter when my Blackberry(aka Crackberry), decided that it no longer wanted to work and died on me lol. AB hooked me up with a pic of her and Moya that I will post to this blog when it comes in.

Also, to the drunk asses in front of me that had to talk every five seconds, you better be glad I didn't have bail money cause you both would've gotten the backhand of Baby Jesus. I came to hear a performance NOT to hear you talk about your thong was riding up your twat. By the way, eww. And other thing, you're a dirty bitch cause you sure wasn't quiet whispering that.

Anyway, the next leg of their tour will be at the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House in Miami, FL. From 10-19-10 to 10-24-10. You can purchase tickets at http://www.arhstcenter.org/ or by calling them at 305-649-6722. Also sold on Ticketmaster, TicketsNow and StubHub!

Come see this show Miami! Its so worth it! I know today is Spoken Word on my blog but I decided to veto that and leave you with these performances from, Dreamgirls.

Leave a Mark, and Not A Hickey

Good Morning,

Due to the recent suicides of gay teens I woke up with a lot on my mind. In a world that loves to stereotype someone based on assumptions, its disenchanting to see that people's assumptions have driven them to bully people weaker than they are since they do not fit their mode of normal.

Different is what makes all unique. Different is what breaks  up the boring of the everyday beige we see in life. No, I'm not asking you all to flip into Lady Gaga and walk out looking for trouble. However, recognizing someone whose different, regardless of race, gender or sexual identification and respecting them nonetheless is what makes us better not bitter.

This song has healed me on many days where I didn't know my own worth. Kirk Franklin's Imagine Me Its easier to hate and destroy what we don't understand, fear or hate. It takes courage to push pass that and know someone for who they truly are and not what you assume them to be.

Know your worth and stop the hate.

Spoken Word Sunday

Chello All!
Its a start of a beautiful week here in Atlanta. Its been in the low 80s and I'm pretty sure that everyone agrees with me that they cannot wait for it to get colder so these people walking on claws, talons and hooves can finally put their monstrosities in hibernation until Spring.

A ot in the world has been going on. Ugly people can finally come out this month without regards to people asking them what hideous monster they are going to be cause its Halloween. Well....not Flava Flav...we all know that's not a mask.

Well its Spoken Word Sunday and, check out this new song by Floacist featuring MusiqSoul Child, entitled, "Forever". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmKAyM2xqPA This song is so tight! I really do miss Floetry but happy to seem them back doing what they love!

Natalie Stewart is a tight with her lyrical game. Check out Affirmation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xl1pOQCvjE

Now, on my page with Facebook and on my Twitter I asked for Spoken Word submissions. I do love reading everyone's work! This one came from a good FB buddy of mine Dauwd Najimi. Please don't ask me how to pronounce his name cause I fuck it up every time. Just call him Talented! Here is his poem, BACKPACK LITERATURE.

BACKPACK LITERATURE
- Dauwd Najimi

I am
tragically buried
in Their designer backpacks,
vaporous
as their claptrap
classroom participation
and
linear written accounts,
I suspect

The professor
grasps at the
ebb and flow nature of
early morning restlessness
seeking signs
of my
inspired inspiration,
an authentic thought
Then, the disappointment

I hold
one thousand or so
pages of words
awaiting
Them to exhume
my body of work
snuggled
at the bottom
of Their designer backpacks

Thanks once again Dauwd for this! If you want to include your submission for next Sunday's Spoken Word hit my inbox @ poeticphire75@gmail.com

The changing of the seasons are coming. One day Atlanta will finally release its choke hold on Summer and let Fall do the Dougie on the weather. On that note, here's my poem: Autumn Leaves.

Autumn Leaves
by: n.a.s.

the Air is Changing Clothes
the Pheel of Cotton
on Skin
the Crunch of once
phormer Leaves
Acquiesce under
my Pheet

the Smell of
Cider and
pumpkin Spice
Seduces my being
when i Walk
under the Canopy
of Tans Browns
Reds and Yellows

Children
Grow weary of
the Limited Days
Sunlight no longer
their Phriend
their Warm Breath
Phalling in small
white puff clouds
of Vapor
their Excited
Giggles Erupting
phrom the Phreedom
of being Young

i Search phor
Warmth in
Phamiar Phaces
and Phind
Peace
Perched
in an Evergreen Tree
Calmly waiting
phor Us
to be Still
and Phinally see
the Beauty
in God s Simplicity
called

Life

So Lifetime Movie Moment I know....gots to stop taking my sister's Pamprin.

Spoken Word Sunday: Time to Be Lifted...Without The Weed

Chello World,
I know its been a hot second since I wrote something down. Been working on a lot of projects and loving it! Thanks for following me on Redd Angel Radio! You can check her on YouTube, and right up here. Loving this new adventure in my life.

So finally here is Spoken Word Sunday. I do have some great submissions, and here are two from AJ Dribble entitled:  Unspoken & Brighter Day

UNSPOKEN

BACK TO BACK, THEY LAY IN BED.
NOT A WORD WAS SPOKEN.
ANGER AND DISPAIR FILLED THEIR HEADS.
SILENCE WOULD NOT BE BROKEN.

SHE FINGERING HER CURLS.
HE RUBBING HIS ARM.
SHE USE TO BE HIS GIRL.
AND HE WITH ALL HIS CHARM..

HEAVY BREATHING
MEMORIES BURNING.
THOUGHTS OF LEAVING.
TOSSING AND TURNING.
STARING INTO SPACE.
STOMACHS CHURNING.
LOOKING FOR A TRACE.
OH ON WITH THE NIGHT.
THEY USE TO BE LOVERS.
FUTURE DOESN'T LOOK TO BRIGHT.
WHAT HAPPENED, WHAT WENT WRONG?
NOW THEY CAN'T EVEN LOOK AT EACH OTHER.
NEITHER KNEW. NEITHER WAS STRONG.
ANOTHER NIGHT NOT TESTED.
DAWN HAS BROKEN.
NEITHER WELL RESTED.
STILL NOT A WORD SPOKEN.

BRIGHTER DAY

FEELINGS OF DISPEAR.
NOT TAKING THE TIME TO SHARE.
WONDERING ALL ALONG IF YOU EVEN CARED.

EVEN FOR A NEW DAY.
IT IS ALREADY GREY.
MINUTE BY MINUTE.
HOUR BY HOUR.
IM MORE CONFUSED.
SORE, HURT AND ABUSED.

CAN'T SEE THE BRIGHT SUNLIGHT.
ALL I SEE IS RED, A CONSTANT FIGHT.

AS THE DAY COMES TO AN END.
FEELINGS STILL ON THE MEND.
AS I LAY ON THE BED.
TRYING TO EASE MY ACHING HEAD.
HOPING FOR SOME MUCH NEEDED SLEEP.
AND THE HOPE OF A BRIGHT NEW DAY TO KEEP.

A.J. DIBBLE

AJ great poem! Thanks for being the first on my blog. You now known in within my little hemisphere lol. Here is my poem entitled, The Quickening and The Other Side of Happy.

The Quickening

i was Awakened
by the Scent
of your Intention

no Words were
Exchanged
just nonverbal cues

Bold Hands
on Naughty
Places

Lips on
      Layers

Tongues
Tasting
Temptation

you Claim my Territory

while i Conquered
your thundering
Demands

Sweat drips into
Crevices
Breathing becomes Shallow

Thrusts and Moans
become
Catastrophic

i Acquiesced your Name
you Surrender to
the Inevitable

we Lay
Trembling in
the Stillness

Slumber
Invades us
Love Cocoons us

On the Other Side of Happy
Written by: n.a.s

i m Trying to
Phind the
Reason Behind
the Why
i Stay with you

phor the Original Vow
i Took is Beginning
to phade

i love you
this much is True

how-some-ever

the Intensity
of its Delivery
no longer Contains
the same Passion

you Work my last
Nerve phar too Easily
that means i Care
phar too much
and  i m phar too Close
to this Situation
to Think Clearly

your  Touch
Still Ignites
my Soul
but your Words
Alter the Axis
of my Moods

the Weather Phorecast
of our Relationship
has Entered into its
Hurricane Season

i m Tired of
All this damn Rain

Praying to God
phor a Sign
but to Truly let go
and let God
Move
may Send you on the
Reverse side of Lover

and i m not Ready
phor that Reality
just yet

so we Sit
on Opposite Sides
of Understanding
Demanding
Silently
phor the other one to
Acquiesce
their Stubbornness
and Confess Apologies
on Bended Knees

this However will
never come to
Phruition
cause Pride has
Sealed our lips Shut

and i m Almost to the Point
where i don t give
a phunk

Now, please submit more poems for next Sunday! Thanks once again AJ. Hit me up on Facebook under  No Alexzander and on Twitter under PositivelyAlexz.  Going to bed now....Monday morning will be here like a zit on picture day.

Stay sexy fantastic
